ECFE at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum

The ECFE PTA is sponsoring a trip to the Minnesota Marine Art Museum on Tuesday, June 26, at 10 am. Kids are free; adults will be $5 each if we have more than 10 paying adults, and $9 if not. Hope to see you there!

Kindermusik has openings in summer class for preschoolers!
On the Road is for 3-5 year-olds, from July 9-13 from 9:30-11:00 am.
  • The first hour & 40 minutes is without the parent/caregiver.
  • The last 20 minutes is sharing time with the parent/caregiver.
  • A snack & craft are included in the activities.
  • Tuition is $37.50 (7.50 per class), & home materials are $28.00, if you choose to purchase them.

ECFE Summer Playgroups

Following is the schedule of summer playgroups set up by ECFE classes. All are welcome to join:

Monday afternoons
12:30 p.m.
Prairie Island Playground
Directions: Take Riverview Drive to Prairie Island Road (see map); turn north (towards the river) on Prairie Island Road. Continue on Prairie Island Road for some distance (about a mile); just past the campground, you will see a driveway/turn-in on your right. Turn in there and you should see the playground equipment and a small picnic shelter. Do not go to Deep Park playground, which is before the Prairie Island playground and on your left.

Wednesday mornings

June - ECFE playground at Goodview School
July - Jefferson Elementary playground
August - Knopps Valley playground

Thursday mornings
9:30 a.m.
June - LaCanne Park (Goodview)

“Kitchen Band” at the Steamboat Days Kiddie Parade
Friday, June 15 • Line Up at 9:15 • Parade at 10:00
Lake Park Bandshell
The theme of this year’s Steamboat Days Kiddie Parade is “Music Music Music!”—so bring your pots, lids, wooden spoons, and other creative kitchen instruments to play in the parade. Line up begins at 9:15 outside the Lake Park Bandshell (look for the ECFE banner). Advance notice of your participation is appreciated but not necessary; call Laura Loos at 474-0132.

Come enjoy the kid-friendly activity stations, enjoy the world-class art and the display of Titanic artifacts. At the time of this writing, the ECFE PTA is trying to organize a tour and group discount; admission on Tuesdays is normally $9 for adults and free for kids 17 and under. Check WinonaKids.org for updates, or just show up at the museum.

Central Fire Station Tour • 451 East Third Street
Wednesday, July 11 • 9:30 am
Join us for a kid-friendly tour of the Central Fire Station—plenty of fun with fire trucks and firefighting equipment, plus fire safety tips. Expect the tour to last 30-45 minutes. Advance notice is strongly encouraged for planning purposes; call Jerry at 452-5399, or e-mail wind [at] hbci.com.

Creekside Playground and Creamery Playdate
Thursday, August 23 • 10 am • Rushford
Wrap up the summer with a trip to the awesome Creekside Playground in Rushford (located near the intersection of Pine Meadows Rd. and N. Mill St.; go to WinonaKids.org and click on “playgrounds” for a map). Meet at the park at 10 am or caravan from Target parking lot at 9:30. We’ll do a pizza and ice cream lunch at the Creamery at about 11:30 (families pay their own way). Rain date Friday, August 24; check WinonaKids.org for cancellation.

Attention all Toddlers (not yet in kindergarten)! Grab your favorite grownup(s) and head over to the Museum for a kid-friendly discovery day the galleries! Expect to do some activities, projects, exploring and more! This busy morning will engage you in a variety of ways, and even give you and your grown up something fun to think about the next time you visit! Join us for a fun-filled day of music, art-making, gallery talks, artist demonstrations and more! At 10:30am family musician Ken Lonnquist will perform his original and witty songs for audiences of all ages. There will be plenty of activity stations for kids ages 2and up including bubble art, fish painting, and sun prints! Leo and Marilyn Smith will be on hand for an artist demonstration, signings and a gallery walk. Come relax by the Mighty Mississippi with the whole family. From Barnyard Banter to Rumbles in the Jungles there are special sounds found everywhere! Explore artworks as they “come to life” through the power of sound and story. Volunteers will tell tales in front of original artworks followed by a hands-on art project. All ages welcome but stories are geared to ages eight and under. Sponsored by Target!
